S1000D User Forum 2019 & ILS Specification Day: 14-17 Oct, London
Full details about the annual S1000D User Forum and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Specification Day in London (14 – 17 October) are available from organisers, ADS on their ADS Group website.
TD-Info MD Phil Williams represents the interests of its members in the activities of the S1000D Forum. His involvement includes being Chair of the Product Services Specification Group (PSSG) which reports to the Services Commission (SVC).
As this year's Forum is based in London this is a rare opportunity for UK-based aerospace and defence organisations to engage and network with this significant global community.
The S1000D specifications seek, in essence, to promote interoperability of information processes; reducing life cycle costs and enabling improved availability of complex systems. An agreement between the Aerospace and Defence Association of Europe (ASD), the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the Air Transport Association of America, Inc. (ATA) forms the framework for governing the development of the S1000D specifications.
The international aerospace and defence community has over the past 20 years invested considerable efforts to develop specifications in the field of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS). The work was initially accomplished by integrated working groups composed of Industry (initially members of ASD) and customer organisations (Ministries of Defence, etc.) in a collaborative environment. The structure and functional coverage of these specifications was largely determined by NATO requirements specified during the international workshop “HAW Acquisition Logistics” in Paris in 1993.
In July 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ASD and its American counterpart the AIA, in order to promote a common, interoperable, international suite of integrated logistics support specifications in the aerospace and defence industries of Europe and the United States. To make optimal use of the resources available, ASD and AIA agreed to work in concert on the joint development of the S-Series ILS specifications.
The resulting S Series Integrated Logistics Support Specifications are a suite of specifications for product support that will provide seamless passage of data (logistics, provisioning, technical publications/IETMs, scheduled maintenance data feedback).
This Annual International Event is in the UK this year
The global community comes together once a year. Through a mix of tutorials, product demonstrations and keynote speeches from senior industry figures, this year’s four day event will bring together some 300 aerospace & defence professionals as they share experiences with regard to the development of these international specifications.
The event is hosted by ASD in partnership with AIA and ATA. It is being organised by ADS.
