Architecture Modelling MOD-Industry Collaboration - JIG Project
Access to high quality and comprehensive architecture products is central to the achievement of interoperability between military capabilities and to the effectiveness of business change programmes. The processes for developing these products invariably involve contributions from both MOD and Industry.
There is no standardised way to develop and format these products and numerous tools in the marketplace to assist the developer. Consequently, it is not easy for MOD and Industry to access and exploit these products without significant re-work. This observation is equally true across the Industry-Industry boundary. In addition, MOD processes and policies for lifecycle management of architecture products are immature.
This Project aims to examine the need and benefits for sharing architecture models between MOD and Industry, how this may be achieved pragmatically and the implications on policy, processes and working practices. The MOD’s Defence as a Platform (DaaP) initiative is used as the ICT case study.
